Trash & Recycling Information
Rubbish is required to be curbside at 7:00 am on Wednesday. Bulk
items such as appliances and furniture need only be placed at the curb
on your regular pick-up day by 7:00 am.
Rubbish will not be collected on the following Holidays:
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
It the holiday falls during the week before your regular pick-up day, your rubbish will be picked up a day later than usual. For example, Wednesday’s trash will be picked up Thursday and Thursday collections will be picked up on Friday. For a more detailed list of regulations, please call the Division of Public Works, 248-553-8580.
If you must put your trash out early, please use your sturdy, 32 gallon
container. (Animals get into plastic bags and leave a mess.)
Your trash containers are required to be picked up and returned to the
garage Wednesday night. Leaving this container out over night can pose
a security problem. There are three types of rubbish services:
- Regular Rubbish
- This consists of picking up your regular trash on a weekly basis, every Wednesday, with trash set out on Wednesday morning, at the end of your driveway and in trash containers no larger than 32 gallons.
- Recycling
- (Green Bin) This program came into existence due to State and Federal mandates. This service pertains to weekly pickup on Wednesday utilizing your green plastic container to dispose of bottles, cans, plastic, paper, etc.
- Magazines and catalogs; tie with string or strong rubber band.
- Newspaper and Inserts; Include glossy inserts with your newspaper (no need to separate). Place loose in bin, tucked to one side or in paper grocery bags. Telephone books are now accepted as well as magazines.

- Clear, green and brown glass bottles, jars and lids. Rinse container and leave label on.
- Tin cans, aluminum cans, clean aluminum foil and aluminum food trays. Rinse or wash if necessary (No Food). Leave label on.
- Narrow-mouth plastic bottles and lids. Rinse container, flatten and leave labels on.
